Gopal Krishnamurthy I have spent most of my life since the age of 4, as a student and teacher at the Krishnamurti schools. I'm currently a PhD student in Education at the University of California Santa Barbara. My research interests include teacher development, classroom observation and J.Krishnamurti's educational philosophy. I have taught in India, the UK and the USA a variety of subjects including physics, mathematics, geography, environmental studies, philosophy, drama and Indian classical music, at High School, Middle School and College levels. Please contact me regarding the following two presentations I am available to present to educators, students of education, and any group interested in the questions that are raised. The presentations will be grounded in classroom practice and will have an interactive component to illustrate these concerns. These presentations can be conducted in approximately one and a half hours each (I am flexible to make them somewhat shorter or longer). Click on the links for more details. Using a minimal set of materials and an innovative methodology, a community-based multi-grade education program, popularly known as "School-in-a-Box", has over the last two decades spread to tens of thousands of schools in India and other countries in the world. Authentic learning (beyond the slogan) requires not a reformation but a radical re-envisioning of the aims of education and a re-animation of the life of school as a whole. |
